Usually held once a month, Sprint Nights are a chance to record times on 50m of two selected strokes, helping coaches to keep a check on swimmers progression and current form for team managers.
This is usually a new swimmers first opportunity to race, and its not unusual for our younger swimmers to get disqualified, this is all part of the learning process, the most common disqualifications are for:
Backstroke- Not swimming on their back, (turning over to turn and finish)
Butterfly- Arms not clearing the water, or moving forwards together, legs not together for kick, not touching turn and finish with both hands at the same time
Breaststroke – Arms or legs not moving simultaneously, arms pulling back past shoulders, more than one pull underwater at start and turn, not touching turn and finish with both hands at the same time
Starting before the start signal.
