Our adult helper volunteers are very important to us, they may be in charge of a number of swimmers in a lane, as well as overseeing our swimmer helpers.
To be an adult helper the sports governing body, Swim England, dictate that there are several requirements in place, these requirements also cover poolside helpers, team managers and all of our coaches.
DBS Check (Disclosure and Barring Service) a check for a criminal record done via GOV.UK, this check is valid for a period of 3 years and has to be renewed at the end of that period. The process involves registering online and presenting documentation such as birth certificate, Driving licence, passport to one of the clubs Safeguarding officers, who will record the details online, there is no cost to the applicant,
Safeguarding Course – a three hour online course that is run by Swim England tutors, course dates and times can be selected to suit your availability, a small fee is charged for this course. The certification last 3 years.
Swimming coaching qualifications. – Support is given by the club for helpers who go on to do a formal coaching qualification, Level 1 (assistant coach) Level 2 (coach) Level 3 (head coach) these courses have both theory and practical requirements.
